To Mr. President Bush of the United States
Dear brother of ours within the Lord: Peace be with you!
I am Brother Hua Huiqi of Beijing House Church.
When we brothers and sisters of our Beijing House Church learned that you would come to Beijing to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, we were very delighted.
We know your piety before the Lord and also your concern for the Chinese house churches that have suffered the political persecution to the fullest extent. Therefore, we often remember you before the Lord.
I was baptized at Kuanjie Church over 10 years ago. When I learned you would visit the church where I was baptized, I hoped I could go there myself to welcome you.
On the morning of August 10, when my brother Hua Huilin and I were on our way to Kuanjie Church for our service, we were illegally arrested by the policemen from Homeland Security Defense Brigade of Chongwen District, Beijing Municipality. One of the policemen named Bai Ying (transliteration) led a group of seven or eight policemen in kicking me and punching me. Then, they took me and my brother respectively to two vehicles. At the place where they detained us, they conducted an interrogation on us. They threatened me: “We simply won’t allow you to go to Kuanjie Church today. If you say you will go there again, we will break your legs!”
There, I prayed hard. About 4-5 hours later, I saw the people who were detaining me had fallen asleep. I then fled the place where they detained me. Now I’m wandering outside and dare not go back home.
I am writing this letter to implore you to pray for my personal safety and for the freedom of belief of us Chinese people.

Dear Brother Hua Huiqui,
It is very sad to hear of the things that you have experienced, and to know that this happens every day in China. Please know that there are many (myself included)in America who will be praying for your safety and for God’s provision in your life.
You and other Chinese Christians are a great inspiration to those of us in America. You encourage us with your selfless devotion to Jesus, and your continued faithfulness to the Gospel in spite of hardships and persecutions. Please remember Hebrews 11:23-38 which talks about Moses and other faithful servants who suffered persecution. You are precious in God’s sight, and like His servants of old, God will say of you “Of whom the world was not worthy”.
God’s love and peace be with you and all of our brothers and sisters in China.

Dear Brother in Christ,
I praise God for what He is doing with your life. I cannot imagine the hardships you suffer, but I know that Jesus is preparing a place for you of high honor. The people of China need you to be strong in your faith and persistant in your testimony. The walls that China has built to keep out faith in God cannot stand and one day will collapse upon them.
I am praying for you as I write that God will watch over you and your precious family. I have asked the Lord of Heaven to guide you daily as you witness the Gospel to people who need to know of God’s love and grace. All that you suffer will be used to glorify the One who suffered for us all.
Blessings in Jesus, Brother.

My brother,
I read the account of your lawyer. I was praying for you then. I pray all the more for you now. Remember Jesus had “no place to rest his head.” We are indeed unworthy of you.
Do not forget how the Roman Empire persecuted Christians and then it was through that same empire, the Gospel was brought to Europe.

My brother-in-Christ,
As I read about what has happened to you, I am drawn to Romans 8:18-19, of God’s Word spoken through Paul, “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.” Please be encouraged Christian soldier by His promises to us. I am sending knee mails for your protection and provision as well as that of your family. You are not alone.
Held in His Grip with you, Donna

Brother Huiqui,
We heard of your arrest on FOXNews. Since then, our American house church, Bible Believers Fellowship, has been praying for you and your brother. We asked our radio audience and thousands of listeners on the internet to remember you, also.
God bless you as you count it a privilege to suffer for the name of Jesus Christ.
In Jesus, Your Brother,

You and your fellow Chinese believers are an very challenging encouragement to us here in the US. Be strong in the Lord! May you continually encounter Him who heart is abounding with love!

Dear Brother Huiqi,
We remember you and your family often in our prayers. My twelve-year-old daughter daily prays for you and your mother in our evening family devotions. Her grandmother (my mother) is one year older than your mother. Because North America provides such a comfortable Christianity, we cannot understand what it is to have such a dearly loved saint and elderly relative suffering for Christ. We pray that the grace of our eternal Lord will be yours and your family’s even as you bear the temporary shackles of the cross that He has called you to carry. May God carry you ever closer to His heart!

Dear Bro Huiqi,
do let us know once you are no longer a fugitive. My heart and prayers go out for you. And I will gather others to pray to our mighty God to grant you the grace to endure the persecution.
