History

China Aid Association, Inc. was established in Pennsylvania in 2002 as a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. Its mission is to tell the truth concerning issues of religious freedom in China, particularly focusing on the fate of believers who belong to banned or “underground” churches.

In addition to collecting documents and materials related to Chinese law and government policy toward religion in China, CAA issues press releases on cases of religious persecution in China and carries out other advocacy on behalf of persecuted religious believers in China. It also provides humanitarian relief to persecuted members of underground Protestant churches in China.

Although CAA’s connections inside China are primarily with Christians, the organization supports the broad principle of freedom of religion for all believers in China and aspires to conduct activities which protect the civil rights of believers from all religions.

CAA President and Founder Bob Fu Xiqiu is a PhD candidate at Westminster Theological Seminary in Glenside, Pennsylvania. Between 2003 and 2007, he was a visiting professor at Oklahoma Wesleyan University. In China, Bob served as a pastor in the Protestant house church movement and was imprisoned for two months for his religious activities.

The China Aid Association Advisory Board includes: Dr. Arthur Waldron (Lauder Professor of International Relations at UPENN), Dr. David Aikman (former TIME Beijing Bureau Chief), Michael Horowitz (Hudson Institute), Mr. Kevin Hasson (former President, Becket Fund for Religious Liberty), Ms. Deborah Fikes (Executive Director, The Midland Ministerial Alliance), and Joseph Grieboski (Founder & President, the Institute on Religion & Public Policy).
