Many imprisoned Christians leave behind families. Spouses and children of prisoners are often abandoned by other family members, even persecuted by their community. They may lose jobs and be unable to support themselves. Sometimes, like Bob and Heidi Fu, both husband and wife are incarcerated. Often, the prisoner’s house church is too poor to help financially.

2003. Pastor Liu Fenggang was arrested and sentenced to three years in prison. China Aid sent money to help his wife and young son for three years. When Pastor Liu was released on February 4, 2007, CAA covered his travel expenses, so he could return home from prison. Three weeks later, Liu suffered a heart attack resulting from lack of treatment of his heart condition in prison. CAA provided $10,000 for his successful surgery and $2,000 more for his recovery.
China Aid provided seed funding for at least 40 families of prisoners to help sustain their living by purchasing cattle, cows and other farm animals.
