Chinese House Church Alliance is Target of Local Government Persecution

China Aid Association
(Suqian city, Jiangsu—Aug. 18, 2011) Local officials are specifically targeting the Chinese House Church Alliance in recent acts of persecution against house church leaders in coastal Jiangsu province, according to a police document obtained by ChinaAid.
On Aug. 12, three elders of the Suqian house church were administratively detained for five days. This follows the sentencing last month of the church’s pastor, Pastor Shi Enhao, who is also deputy chairman of the Chinese House Church Alliance, to a two-year re-education-through-labor term. For more details, see the ChinaAid report at: https://chinaaid.org/2011/08/persecution-escalates-against-jiangsus.html
The police notice for the detention of Elder Wu Changle makes it clear that these recent acts of official persecution are specifically directed at the Chinese House Church Alliance.

This is a translation of the police notice:
Notice of Public Security Bureau Administrative Punishment Decision                                                  Su sub-branch (National) Decision (2011) No. N002
Person to be Punished: Wu Changle; male; DOB: Nov. 22, 1966; Han nationality; middle school education; residing at No. 28, North of the Dike, Shuanghe Neighborhood Committee, Xiangli Residential District, Sucheng District, Suqian City; unemployed; Government ID number 320819196611227817
Results of Investigation: On Oct. 25, 2005, Shi Enhao and others established the Chinese House Church Alliance in Hebei province. On Nov. 28, 2008, the Chinese House Church Alliance was officially banned by the Civil Affairs Ministry for being an unregistered social organization engaged in unauthorized activities. In 2010, after Spring Festival, Wu Changle was pressured by Shi Enhao to become an elder of the Suqian Christian church. Yet on Dec. 22, 2010, Wu Changle, in his capacity as an elder of the Suqian Christian church, attended and chaired the year-end gathering of all lay leaders held at the Zhangmiao church in Sucheng district.
The above facts were recounted by the party involved, and are backed up by audio recordings, etc.
In accordance with the Public Security Administration Law of the People’s Republic of China, Section 54, Article 1, first paragraph, the decision is made to administratively detain Wu Changle for five days.
In the event of failure to comply, a review can be requested by applying to the Suqian Municipal Public Security Bureau or the Suqian Municipal People’s Government within 60 days of the receipt of this notice, or a suit can be filed according to the law within three months with the Sucheng District People’s Court.
