(Pingdingshan, Henan–Dec. 18, 2012) Seven Christians who had earlier been charged with “cult” crimes went on trial last week in Pingdingshan, Henan province, ChinaAid has learned.
Hu Linpo, Han Hai and five others were defended at their Dec. 13 trial by seven well-known Christian rights defense lawyers from Beijing and pled not guilty. The defense team was headed by Li Baiguang, director of the Beijing Gongxing Law Office.
The seven were among 54 believers from the Daying village house church, in Rendian town, Ye county, in the city of Pingdingshan who were detained in an April 14 raid. The trial opened at 9 a.m. and continued until 5 p.m. with a half-hour break at mid-day. The court adjourned with no date set to reconvene. The court said only that notices would be sent out when the trial resumes.
