Abduction and Building Closures in Fujian

October 19, 2010

FUJIAN — On the morning of October 17, 2010, church leaders in Lianjiang County, Fuzhou City sent a text message asking various churches for prayer and assistance.
At 9:30 a.m., Ban Kezhen, a fellow worker, was taken away by government agents who did not show identification. Also, three venues that are used for church gatherings have been sealed without any legal basis or submitting government paperwork.
The personal website of He Keduan, the church leader, has been restricted. To reach him for more information or to encourage him, his phone number is +86 131 0765 0099.
This particular church in Fujian province has a strong heart for evangelism and is very active in the community. Whenever the trans-regional missionaries travel, they return to Lianjiang reaping abundant fruit.
In late July, a friend of the church visited them to promote evangelism. He witnessed that 40 members of the congregation have devoted their entire lives to missionary work; the youngest one is a 7-year-old boy named Xie Yinuo.
Church pastor He Keduan is faithful in his ministry, despite having a handicap since childhood. After converting to Christianity, his entire family committed themselves to the ministry and they are very competent in their work.
ChinaAid calls on Fujian government agencies to respect the rights of these Christians and allow these citizens their religious rights as promised by the central government of China. ChinaAid also takes this opportunity to request prayer and support for this church from Christians worldwide.
