Ding Guquan, a member of Christian Human Rights Lawyers of China, conveys the appreciation expressed by Fan Yafeng to all his supporters.
Ding said, Brother Fan Yafeng was formally taken into police custody at 9 a.m. Dec. 9 and returned home at about 10 a.m. Dec. 18. I just had a phone conversation with Brother Fan Yafeng. He asked me to convey his gratitude to all the many brothers and sisters who have been lovingly praying for him. He is also very grateful for the help and concern of many friends. He said that in the past 10 days he has learned five things. The first is forgiveness. God removed his inner tendency toward violence, transforming his antagonistic attitude to a constructive attitude. The second thing is mercy. He mentioned in particular that he realized that he had been unwise in the advice he’d given to Gao Zhisheng (about how to respond to the authorities) and said he bears some responsibility for what happened to Gao Zhisheng. The third thing is thanksgiving. Through an experience like this, he has truly seen the grace of God, for which he is exceptionally thankful. And he expresses special thanksgiving for Sister Lingling, his wife. The fourth thing is love, and the fifth is total dependence on the Lord. During this time, the only thing he could do was to be totally dependent on the Lord. Therefore, his release this time is the triumph of God himself.
