(Shenzhen–Jan. 5, 2013) A well-known preacher who was detained twice in December for evangelizing in a park in the southern city of Shenzhen and held for 13 days under administrative detention has been released, ChinaAid has learned.

Cao Nan was evangelizing about the true meaning of Christmas in Shenzhen’s Litchi (Lychee) Park with eight other Christians on two occasions in December when all nine believers were detained by local police.  After the second detention on Dec. 15, he was given a 13-day administrative detention sentence.  The others were all released after from the police station after a brief period.

Cao has now been released from administrative detentions, and his family members, worried about his health, plan to arrange for him to leave Shenzhen and go to the countryside to recuperate.  They also expressed their gratitude to people from all walks of life and around the world for their concern.
