CAA President Bob Fu has been invited to speak at the Congressional Human Rights Caucus in Washington D.C. on July 22. Mr. Fu is set to address Congressional leaders Frank R. Wolf (R-VA) and James McGoveren (D-MA) among others concerning the condition of Human Rights violations in China in the final weeks leading up to the Beijing Olympics.
Several specific cases of persecution will be highlighted during the briefing. Such cases will include the condition of the President of the Chinese House Church Alliance, Zhang Mingxuan, who was forced from his home by Beijing officials on July 17. Since then Zhang and his ill wife have been forced to live on the streets by PSB authorities who continue to harass the couple.
The goal of the briefing is to bring awareness to the injustices and human rights violations being committed by the Chinese Government. Through international awareness and pressure it is hoped that the CPC will release those prisoners who have been arbitrarily detained and allow religious freedom and rule of law to take precident within China.
