(Chengdu, Sichuan—Nov. 18, 2019) Sichuan authorities moved ahead with the prosecution of Early Rain Covenant Church Pastor Wang Yi on Friday. His trial is expected to be held soon.

Wang has been in custody since Dec. 9, 2018, when officials seized around 100 members of his church. He was charged with “inciting subversion of state power” for his Christian work.

Earlier, the Chinese government fired Wang’s lawyer. He has not been provided another attorney, so he will likely have to act as his own representation during his trial.
