(Midland, Texas–July 19, 2012) To mark the 10-year anniversary of its founding, ChinaAid plans to hold a half-day human rights seminar next Tuesday in Washington, D.C. and also unveil an interactive map of human rights cases in China.
Senate and House leaders who have championed freedom and democracy in China have confirmed their attendance at the daylong celebratory activities on July 24, which will open with a morning seminar on human rights, religious freedom and the rule of law in China in the Cannon House Building, Room 210.
VIP guests and speakers will include longtime ChinaAid supporters, well-known academics and lawyers, Congressional leaders, and house church leaders who have served prison time. Special speakers are to include Sharon Hom, executive director of Human Rights in China, and Dr. David Aikman, former Time magazine bureau chief in Beijing and Jerusalem, and author of Jesus in Beijing.
The day’s events will look back on the past 10 years of developments in China in the areas of religious freedom, human rights and the rule of law and also consider the possible developments in the coming 10 years and make some recommendations for how to respond to them.
ChinaAid gives thanks to God for His call on and leading of ChinaAid in the past 10 years, to be a voice for and to give assistance to the persecuted church in China and to draw attention to those in the fields of religious freedom, human rights and the rule of law who have been persecuted. ChinaAid thanks all those individuals and groups who have supported ChinaAid’s ministry.
ChinaAid will also unveil an interactive map of human rights cases that will make it easier for Chinese citizens and reporters to effectively and accurately monitor human rights, family planning and religious freedom violations in a timely manner. The site shows where human rights violations have occurred across China with accuracy down to the village and hamlet level. Users do not need to register, and they can mark the exact location on the map of where new cases of human rights violations have occurred and even upload photographs. The site will provide to the world, and especially to human rights groups, the most direct information regarding China’s human rights situation. The site is at map.chinaaid.net
