Christian serving unreached group arrested for “organizing and funding illegal gatherings”

(Gulin, Sichuan province) Li Chunqing, a Christian from Wenzhou, posted a prayer request letter for her husband Lin Xuesui. On June 14, police criminally arrested Lin during a Sunday service on the charge of “organizing and funding an illegal gathering”. Two other Christians were arrested with him under the same charge, but the other two were released on bail. Authorities formally arrested Lin Xuesui on July 22.

According to Lin Chunqing, Lin Xuesui became a Christian when he was young and decided to serve his church. Before his arrest, he was once invited to a rural area of Gulin county to visit other Christians. After the trip, he realized the Gospel is not widely shared with people in Gulin county, so he decided to stay in Gulin to share the Gospel. His wife said what he did was just a Christian’s fundamental responsibility:

It doesn’t violate any law for Christians to gather on Sunday. Of course, it is not a crime either! We believe “it is mine to avenge; I will repay, says the Lord.” We pray God to guard us and show His mercy on us. “The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.” We hope God raise more people who love Him through such tribulation.

Li Chunqing urges fellow Christians to pray God to lead and strengthen Lin Xuesui. Although he is in prison, may peace and joy be with him.
