Christianity Today: ‘Os Guinness: Liberals and Conservatives Are Getting Religious Freedom Wrong’

Guinness’s book

Social critic Os Guinness said in an interview with Christianity Today’s Judd Birdsall that the foundational human right of religious freedom is under attack domestically and internationally. 


The purpose of the interview was to promote Guinness’s book, The Global Public Square. Guinness, who prefers to refer to religious freedom as “soul freedom,” said that attempts to accommodate various civil rights such as equality for homosexuals have occurred at the expense of religious freedom, a human right. Guinness defined civil rights as those granted or controlled by a society while human rights are fundamental and undeniable.
