(Washington — Nov. 10, 2010) The November 2010 Chinese delegation to the United States continued their itinerary in Washington, DC yesterday and met with US Commissioners, congressional staff, a Supreme Court justice, and a judge on the US Court of Appeals.
They made appeals and shared ideas about the human rights situation in China, hoping to extend first-hand knowledge concerning persecution, while simultaneously gaining insight about how foreign officials can help champion the cause for democracy in China.
At 9 a.m., they were welcomed by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) for a commissioner consultation.
Elizabeth Hoffman, a congressional staffer for Frank Wolf, invited the delegation for a meeting in the Rayburn House Office Building. Other congressional staff were present, and the delegation participated in a question and answer session after addressing the audience.
Afterwards, they convened at the Supreme Court for an appointment with Justice Antonin Scalia.
The delegation was also given the honor of meeting with Judge Douglas Ginsburg, who serves on the US Court of Appeals.
Today is the final day in the nation’s capital for this delegation.
