BEIJING — Dr. Fan Yafeng was seized by local police at 9:28 a.m. on October 30. His detention ended at 6:00 p.m. on the same day and he was allowed to return home. During the “summoning,” the police detained Fan Yafeng inside Shuangyushu Hotel to prevent ordinary citizens from seeing any part of this incident.
Haiding Domestic Security Protection Squad released a statement saying, “From now on, all activities and Christian gatherings will be banned at the office of Shengshan Cultural Research Institute and the home of Fan Yafeng.” The also said that no notice will be provided in writing. Dr. Fan Yafeng has said that he will never obey such an illegal and evil order. We ask you, brothers and sisters, to pray for Shengshan Church.
ChinaAid fully supports Dr. Fan Yafeng and Shengshan Church as the fight for their legitimate rights. Beijing authorities are called to consider the times and situations in China and in the world, and respect the religious rights Christian citizens and be proud of these excellent representatives of the Chinese nation.
The government in Beijing has increased oppression on Dr. Fan. We call the authorities to release this lawyer and allow him to have his rights as a Chinese citizen. We call for prayer on behalf of him, his family, and other lawyers in China facing persecution.
