(Hubei – February 28, 2011) ChinaAid has received a copy of the government document issued last week to the Christians in Yangdang Town, Zaoyang city of Hubei, who had gathered for a lecture on their church’s legal rights defense. On February 23, police raided the meeting, confiscated property, took all the attendees to the police station, and beat several of them.

Parties involved: Du Xianping and Zhao Ximei
Address: Group 6, Yangtian Village, Yangdang Town, Zaoyang City (Currently residing at Dianzi Street, Yangdang Town)
It is found through investigation that you set up a venue for religious activities, without proper approval, where you engaged in illegal religious activities. You have violated the provisions set in Article 43 of the “Regulations on Religious Affairs.” Pursuant to Article 43 of the “Regulations on Religious Affairs,” this bureau has decided to impose on you the following administrative penalties:
1. Abolish the illegal religious activities you engaged in and the venue for illegal religious activities;
2. Confiscate the illegal income gained through the illegal religious activities.
If you have objections to this decision, you may apply for an administrative reconsideration at Zaoyang Municipal People’s Government or Xiangyang Municipal Bureau for Ethnic and Religious Affairs within 60 days after you receive this decision statement or you can submit your administrative lawsuit directly at Zaoyang Municipal People’s Court.
