Prominent attendees include Joe Torres, chairman of the board of ChinaAid; Rev. Daniel Stephens, senior pastor at Midcities Community Church; and Rev. Chad Bullard, former Homeland Security Department official and Stonegate Fellowship pastor, all from Midland, Texas. These three attendees will also speak in front of the subcommittee.
A press conference will precede the hearing at 1:45 p.m. Both the press conference and the congressional hearing will be held in Room 225 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
Guo, a prominent Chinese human rights defender, was detained on Aug. 8 following a speech he made in early 2013 at a public protest of the government censorship encountered by Chinese newspaper The Southern Weekly.
