House church member detained after a week of residential surveillance

(Linfen, Shanxi Province, China—November 11, 2022) On Wednesday, Wen Huijuan, the wife of Linfen Covenant house church coworker Wang Qiang, received a criminal detention notice from Lifen Municipal Bureau of Public Security. Wang Qiang has been criminally detained and transported to the detention center after a week of designated residential surveillance.  

 

The notice states that the bureau criminally detained Wang Qiang on suspicion of fraud on November 9, at 4 PM at the detention center located in Raodu District, Shanxi Province.  

 

Wu Tingting, a female coworker of Linfen Covenant House Church, has been put under designated residential surveillance on the same charge since October 28, but there is no update regarding her. Li Jie and Han Xiaodong, two ministers of the church, were arrested on August 19. They, first, were held under designated residential surveillance, then transported to the detention center, and finally arrested on suspicion of “fraud” on September 30. Li Shanshan, Minister Li Jie’s wife, was released on bail after being under designated residential surveillance.
