IRF 2023: Panel discusses forced labor in China

(Washington D.C.—January 31, 2023) At the 2023 International Religious Freedom Summit (IRF), ChinaAid will livestream a discussion covering China’s gross system of forced labor. The panel, entitled Corporate Accountability for People of Faith in China’s Forced Labor System, will feature four guest speakers including ChinaAid Founder and President Bob Fu.

The Communist Regime implicates countless people of faith, including Uyghurs, Falun Gong, Christians, and many more for forced labor— a well-documented atrocity. Meanwhile, western corporations continue to profit from this exploitation of prisoners of conscience. What can we do, not only as consumers but as civil society, do about this compliance?

The panel includes Bob Fu in conversation with experts to discuss tangible solutions to hold corporations to account. Panelists include former Ambassador to the UN Economic and Social Council Kelley Currie and Jewher Ilham with the Coalition to End Uyghur Forced Labor. Activist Shi Minglei will also share her campaign for her husband, Chen Yuan’s imprisoned in a labor camp.

The event will be in the Defending IRF track at 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM ET, January 31. Tune into the livestream at this link here
