(Guangzhou, Guangdong Province—June 16, 2021) On the morning of June 12, 2021, Lawyer Wen Yu, a Christian, drove more than 100 kilometers (62 miles) to meet with Gao Heng, also a Christian, at Guangzhou No. 2 Detention Center in Baishuizhai, Zengcheng City, Guangzhou. On June 4, the 32 anniversary of the June 4th Tiananmen Square Massacre, Gao Heng of Guangzhou Bible Reformed Church, stood at a station of Guangzhou Subway Line Two, holding a sign stating, “June 4, pray for the country.” Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities have detained Brother Gao for provocation, “picking quarrels and provoking trouble,” since June 5.

During his visit with Lawyer Wen, Brother Goa expressed concerns for his family and friends, as well as for his Brothers and Sisters in Christ. While they met, the two men prayed together. Brother Gao Heng asked Lawyer Wen to tell those praying for him, “I’m good….”

Huang Xiaoning, Brother Gaos’ pastor, reported that the Church is helping Gao Heng investigate and implement his legal options. Church members also comfort his father and sister who do not yet believe in Christ.

In the past, Lawyer Wen represented numerous Christian rights cases, including the 12.9 case involving Elder Su Bingsen, the Yunnan missionary case, and the illegal business operation case against Xiamen Christian rights lawyer, Yang Hui.
Pastor Huang noted that according to the analysis of lawyers, CCP authorities may sentence Brother Gao to serve a maximum prison sentence of 2 to 5 years for his fabricated charge of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble.” He expressed his indignation regarding Brother’s Gao’s detention:
A man who appeals to pray for his country is arrested by the country?

It’s not a sin for Christians to pray!

 Christians can pray any day.

 Christians can pray everywhere.

Please pray for Brother Gao Heng….
