WASHINGTON — Today, Frank Wolf and Chris Smith, along with 10 other members of Congress, wrote a letter to the United States ambassador in Beijing concerning the ongoing house arrest of Chen Guangcheng.
Concerned with Chen’s welfare, the members of Congress urged Ambassador John Huntsman to present this case to the Chinese government, but also to personally dispatch an officer to check on the ailing lawyer and his family.

Based on information collected about the urgency of Chen’s current situation, ChinaAid sent a petition to members of Congress asking officers be sent to visit him, and for the government to concern themselves with this self-taught lawyer’s physical state. We are thankful that they graciously accepted our request and sent this letter to Ambassador Huntsman.
