News Flash: Christian Meetings in Henan and Shanghai raided and shut down

China Aid Association

(Luoyang and Shanghai – Sept. 17, 2012) ChinaAid has learned that on the evening of September 12, 2012, while “China Christian Family” held a retreat gathering of pastors in an ecology garden in Luoyang city, Henan province, they were interrupted, harassed, and threatened by the local DSPS (Domestic Security Protection Squad) who forced the end of the meeting midway through it.  Nearly 100 people who attended the meeting had to leave the venue on the same evening.

“China Christian Family” is a liaison institution founded spontaneously by house church leaders from various parts of China.  Each year, they hold a retreat meeting of pastors.  According to a pastor who attended this meeting, some pastors who came from America, Taiwan, and other countries, and regions of China were forced to immediately leave the scene; the rest of the attendees were then hauled off to Luoyang Railway Station in a tourist bus with two police vehicles following.

In another development, on the morning of September 14, a house church in Shanghai held a “Training Meeting of Fraternity Pastors” and it was also stopped by force by the local DSPS agents and the local government religious officials. The speakers and the attendees were forced to leave the scene.

ChinaAid will continue to closely monitor the persecution of Christian house churches leading up to the convening of the 18th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party.
