Breaking news: 9 Christians taken away from two house churches in Guangxi, 5 administratively detained

(Guangxi Province, China – March 2, 2025) Persecution against Christianity in Guangxi Province occurs frequently. As this reporter has just learned, 9 believers from a house church in Baise City, Guangxi Province were taken away by local public security officers on March 1, 2025 at 9pm – six of them were adults and three were children.  

There are still three Christians, Qin Tao, Cui Tiande, and Chen Shaofeng, who have not been released. 

The reporter also learned that from July 20 to 25, 2024, the Dongxing City Public Security Bureau in Guangxi Province sentenced six Christians, including Yang Penghuan, Wei Sanhong, Huang Jiajin, Dai Jianping, Du Huifei, and Sun Zhiqi, to five days of administrative detention on the charge of “endangering the society through the use of religion”. The six Christians then filed an administrative reconsideration, and the Dongxing municipal government upheld the Public Security Bureau’s administrative penalty judgment. The case has now been brought to court, and the Dongxing City Court has notified that the trial will begin on March 14th.
