(Xi’an — June 13, 2025) Church of Abundance in Xi’an sent out an urgent prayer request today, calling on all sectors of society to pay attention to the case progress of the church’s three leaders, Pastor Lian Changnian, Pastor Lian Xuliang, and Preacher Fu Juan, as well as Pastor Lian Changnian’s concerning health condition.
The three church leaders have been detained since August 17, 2022, on suspicion of “fraud.” After two years and eight months of imprisonment, their compulsory measures were changed on April 12, 2025, to “residential surveillance at a designated location.” They have now returned home for a brief reunion with their families.
The Case Moves Into The Trial Phase
A pre-trial meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. on June 16, 2025, with the formal trial set to begin at 10 in the morning on June 24, 2025. The church sincerely calls on all sectors to pray for a just and fair trial.
Pastor Lian Changnian’s Health Has Rapidly Deteriorated
On June 13, 2025, Pastor Lian Changnian was hospitalized again due to a recurrence of severe cervical and lumbar spine conditions. According to the church, Pastor Lian suffered threats and abuse from personnel handling his case during his detention, resulting in serious physical and mental harm.
According to a preliminary hospital diagnosis dated May 29, 2025, Pastor Lian’s current health conditions include:
- Organic mental disorder
- State of Anxiety and severe fatigue of the entire brain
- Three bulges and three protrusions of the cervical disc
The Church Calls for Urgent Prayers
Xi’an Church of Abundance, one of the largest house church groups in China under the “China Gospel Fellowship,” earnestly calls on all Christians and concerned members of society to continue praying and offering support for Pastor Lian Changnian’s recovery, the safety of Pastor Lian Xuliang and Preacher Fu Juan, and the fair trial of the entire case.
