(ChinaAid) Maoping Yang, the older sister of Guo Feixiong, released a statement in response to the passing of Guo’s wife. ChinaAid translated the statement:

Mrs. Zhang Qing, the wife of my brother Yang Maodong (pseudonym Guo Feixiong), passed away on January 10, 2022, at 10:21 AM Eastern Standard Time in Maryland due to a medical condition. With only two children by her side, Zhang Qing was unable to handle the funeral arrangements, and all funeral matters were decided and handled by Yang Maodong himself.

Guo Feixiong is the pseudonym of Yang Maodong, a
renowned human rights leader in China. He tried visiting his wife in January
2021, but Communist Party authorities stopped him from boarding his flight in
the name of “protecting national security.”

Chinese officials arrested Guo for attempting to leave
the country. No one knows his current condition. The Chinese Communist Party
must give an account of where he’s being held and allow him the freedom to speak and
travel to the United States to be with his two children.
