(Midland, Texas–Feb. 16, 2011) Because of the heightened attention on Chen Guangcheng‘s recent persecution, the Domestic Security Protection Squad has beat up Beijing Christian attorney Jiang Tianyong and taken away another attorney, Tang Jitian.
On February 16 at 5:10 p.m. (Beijing time), on the second floor in a small conference room of the Yang-fang-dian branch police station, Lu Yonghui grabbed Jiang Tianyong’s collar and held it tightly for a long time, making it hard for Jiang to breath. Then Lu pushed him harshly backwards so that Jiang’s head hit the wall. When Lu took his hands off, he said to Jiang in a malicious tone, “Just wait! This is not the last time.” Jiang answered loudly, “Lu Yonghui, I will be ready for you.”
We have now learned that Jian Tianyong was released, but attorney Tang Jitian’s whereabouts are still unknown.
ChinaAid calls for churches and individual Christians, both in China and worldwide, to support the persecuted lawyers and pay close attention to Chen Guangcheng’s persecution.
