(ChinaAid, Midland, TX—November 17, 2021) The poem, “A Little Too Long” in Living Lyrics credits the Holy Spirit with giving John Cao the courage to carry on his seven-year sentence. In her review of Pastor Cao’s book, Representative Vicky Hartzler (R-MO) states, “May his words from a Chinese prison inspire us to be better, to be bolder, and to focus our time on Earth, like him, making an eternal difference.”

A Little Too Long

Seven years of suffering,
seems a little too long.
but, the Holy Spirit
gives me courage to bear.

Taking this opportunity to sharpen
the knife
to train my heart,
to be ready

to protect the sheep from the wolves,
even if it seems
a little too long.
