Pastor Li Jintao, 500 miles from home, arrested during a church raid

(Nanchang, Jiangxi province—March 21, 2023) During a Sunday service, over 20 joint law enforcement personnel broke into a church in Nanchang, the capital Jiangxi province. Pastor Li Jintao of a Shenzhen-based reformed church was invited to speak at the church, about 500 miles from his home. Authorities arrested him and four other Christians.

Around 11 AM on Sunday, authorities from relevant departments raided the church where Pastor Li spoke. All the attending believers were required to write down their personal information for the police. After 12 PM, Pastor Li Jintao and the coworkers in charge of the church were taken away to the police station. ChinaAid confirmed that Pastor Li and the others were released by 8 PM Sunday.

 

Early Rain Covenant Church disclosed the incident, hoping that Christians would intercede for the arrested pastor and coworkers.
