(Xi’an city, Shaanxi province, November 8, 2024) The China Aid Association has learned that Pastor Fan Yanmin of the Xi’an Church in Shaanxi Province was recently detained by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Police under the charge of “illegal religious meetings”.
On November 6, 2024, at about 9:30 a.m., Pastor Fan Yanmin was taken away from his father’s house in Xingping, Shaanxi by four people (Fan’s father is 90 years old and suffering from cancer and is undergoing treatment). At about 11:00 a.m., the police went to Fan’s house in Xi’an to take away the church’s computer and two iPads.
At around 5:30 p.m., the Xi’an Shilipu police station called Fan’s wife to inform her that Fan had been detained under the charge of “suspected of endangering society by using the name of a religion”. Pastor Fan was due to be detained for 15 days under the Public Security Administration Punishment Law.
The China Aid Association believes this is a typical act of religious persecution by the Chinese Communist government and calls for the immediate release of Pastor Fan Yanmin, who has been illegally detained, and also calls on Christians around the world to continue to pray and bless for our persecuted brothers and sisters in China.
