(Guiyang, Guizhou Province—May 05, 2021) Today, the family of Elder Zhang Chunlei (#RenAiReformedChurch), Guizhou Province, learned that on May 01, police formally arrested Elder Zhang for indictment.

On May 05, when Ms. Yang Ai’Qing, Elder Zhang’s wife, visited the police station for information, a police officer handed her the formal arrest notice that Yunyan Branch of Guiyang PSB, Guizhou Province, had issued. The notice alleges the reason for Elder Zhang’s arrest as “fraud.”

Bob Fu, PhD, president of ChinaAid, learned about police arresting Elder Zhang on the fabricated charge of fraud, and conveying the church’s offering as a crime. He considers the arrest of Elder Zhang not only as an injustice, but also—”pure religious persecution.”

Blessed are you
when they revile and persecute you,
and say all kinds of evil against you falsely
for My sake.
