PROMINENT RIGHTS ATTORNEY FACING DANGER, ANOTHER OPEN LETTER ISSUED

China Aid Association
(Midland, Texas (CAA)-November 22, 2005) CAA learned that a prominent human rights lawyer, Mr. Gao Zhisheng, is facing increasing danger because of his continuous stance against human rights and religious freedom violations. Mr. Gao is one of the leading attorneys for Beijing House church Pastor Cai Zhuohua. He wrote  an open letter today detailing how he, his wife and his 12-year-old daughter have been threatened by the Chinese secret agents in the past few days. All of them have been followed closely by sometimes as many as 20 security agents. Mr. Gao on several occasions was chased so closely by the secret police cars that his own car was struck several times which almost caused an accident. When Mr. Gao rebuked the agents’ reckless, shameless behavior, he was threatened. Mr. Gao’s law license is about to be revoked by the Beijing Beau of Justice.
CAA also learned Mr. Gao has recently dedicated himself as a Chinese Christian. He will be baptized in a House Church soon.
CAA appeals to the international community to continue to show your concern for the safety of Mr. Gao and his family members. CAA urges international Christian communities to pray continuously for Mr. Gao and his family and write emails and make phone calls to show solidarity and brotherly love for Mr. Gao.
