Seminary raided, pastor and three teachers arrested

(Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, China) The National Security Department and Bureau of Religion raided Canaan Seminary on September 20. They destroyed all the equipment in the church and took Pastor Huang Jianle and three teachers. All seminarians were asked to move back home.  

Recently, Christian seminaries in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province have been raided and shut down. On August 8, 2022, Zhejiang Province Wenzhou City Lucheng District Bureau of Civil Affairs issued the announcement that Wenzhou Bowen Bible School and Wenzhou Bible School are shut down. Below is the announcement:  

It is found via investigation that “Wenzhou Bowen Bible School” and “Wenzhou Bible School” are illegal NGOs and have organized events without authorization in the name of the social organization and private non-enterprise units, and both of them never register. Pursuant to Regulation on Registration and Administration of Social Organizations Article 32, Interim Regulation on Registration and Administration of Private Non-enterprise Units Article 27, and Interim Measures for Banning Illegal Non-governmental Organizations Articles 2 & 9 issued by Ministry of Civil Affairs, this organ has decided to shut down “Wenzhou Bowen Bible School” and “Wenzhou Bible School.”

The announcement was made on August 5, 2022.
