Three-Self Church in Ji'nan Requests Right to Protest

SHANDONG — On October 15, over 800 members of Changchunli Three-Self Church submitted an application to the Ji’nan Municipal Public Security Bureau requesting permission for a month-long demonstration in both Quancheng Square and Hongjialou Square. The demonstrations will begin on October 26.
The church members will demand that the relevant government agencies seriously punish the perpetrators who attacked people on September 23. They will also appeal to the municipal government, asking that they safeguard their right to faith in accordance with the law, and protect their venues for religious activities from being illegally demolished and removed from their possession.
According to Shandong’s provincial regulations, failure from the Ji’nan PSB to provide a reply in writing by October 24 will be regarded as an approval of the church’s request.
ChinaAid walks with Changchunli Church as they lawfully and peacefully fight for their religious rights. We call on Ji’nan PSB to fulfill the requests of these Chinese citizens by punishing their attackers appropriately and protecting their rights to worship Christ without persecution.
