Tian Min-Ge, Su Dean Released From Prison, Charges Dropped

China Aid Association
(Gansu- February 1, 2008) China Aid has learned that prominent house church leaders, Tian Min-ge and Su Dean were released from their detention on January 28. The charges against the leaders have been dropped by authorities. However, the pastors have been labeled as members of an “evil cult” and will be held liable if they are detained in the future.
The two were detained on December 20, 2007, by local police in Jiuquan City. The leaders were in the midst of conducting a church service with fellow co-worker, Wang Hongliang, when local authorities disrupted the gathering and detained the pastors. The three church leaders were arraigned under the charges of “gathering in an illegal assembly under the guise of religion.” Mr. Wang was released after serving 15 days detention, while Tian and Su have been serving criminal detention since January 5, 2008, in the Fangcheng County Public Security Bureau of Henan.
In August of 1988, American missionary Dennis Balcombe commissioned Tian Min-ge and Su Dean to work in the ministry of “world missions”. The three continued to work together for some time, until the CPC expelled Balcombe from China. Chinese Officials have recently invited Balcombe to minister within the government sanctioned TSPM church, which he has accepted.
