WASHINGTON, D.C.–On March 9, 2010, the Laogai Research Foundation opened its Spring and Summer 2010 Exhibit highlighting one of the greatest human rights violations of the 21st Century. Entitled “An Unsustainable Social Experiment: 30 Years of China’s One Child Policy,” the Washington, D.C.-based Exhibit offers insight into the dark and oppressive results of China’s forced population control, which has led to the rise of forced abortions, infanticide, forced sterilization, and other crimes against humanity in China.
For a nation that boast a population of 1 billion people, an estimated nearly 80 million men of marrying age are expected never to find wives, according to population statistics and the skewed ‘frequency’ of male births. The Laogai Research Foundation has dedicated their exhibit to exposing the human rights abuses caused by China’s “Draconian” One Child Policy.
