SHANDONG — According to reliable sources, the following seven members of Changchunli Three-Self Church are likely targets for arrest: Zhang Jingbing, Bai Xiangdong, Pastor Wang Sanyuan, Song Yue, Zhou Liping, Zhu Xiaoying and Xu Ailin — the latter four being women. Police may be intending to arrest others as well. This news was urgently published a few hours ago on October 8 (local time) in a prayer request letter that was sent out to churches all across China.
This Three-Self church has been persecuted since 2009 and has been struggling against the oppression of the government in Shandong province. (See the press release from September 27, 2010, Changchunli Church Members Attacked.) The Chinese Christian Legal Defense Association, who has been asked to help, agreed to defend the church and uphold justice for the congregation of Changchunli Church.
As experienced in other cases, when the international community sheds light on a case such as this one, a plot to illegally arrest and persecute dissipates over a very short time.
