(Washington—Sept. 22, 2015) China Aid will cohost a rally, titled “Let Freedom Ring for Chinese, Tibetans, Uyghurs and Mongols Rally,” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, at Lafayette Square to urge President Obama to press Chinese President Xi Jinping on Chinese human rights.
China Aid Vice President Kody Kness will speak at the rally, one of many events being associated with #ChinaRightsNow, about the state of human rights and religious freedom in China, which has worsened alarmingly since Xi Jinping took office.
The rally, which takes place the day that the White House will host Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, at an official State Dinner, aims to send a message to Obama that China’s human rights abuses can no longer be ignored and that Obama must press this issue with Xi.
Other human rights groups hosting the rally include: Amnesty International, Initiatives for China, International Campaign for Tibet, Uyghur American Association and Southern Mongolian Human Rights Information Center.
For more information, please contact China Aid’s vice president, Kody Kness, at [email protected] or (202) 213-0506. A map of Lafayette Square showing the location of the rally can be viewed here.
