During the interview, Bob Fu, PhD, president of ChinaAid told Becky Ferguson how he went from “Xiqiu to Joseph to simply ‘Bob'” during a last-minute trade with a friend—of a slip of paper he had pulled out of a hat. “My Chinese name is pronounced ‘She-Shoe.'” he explained. “Changing from Xiqiu to Bob… [helps] English speakers… [pronounce] my name.”

A good name
is to be chosen
rather than great riches,
Loving favor
rather than silver and gold.
