Calling Government Offices in China:

Calling authorities in China to express your concern for prisoners makes a difference — even if you do not speak Chinese. When you call, you can request an English speaker, but many times Chinese officials may understand English, though they may not respond in English. Also, when officials hear a prisoner’s name spoken by someone calling in concern from another country, it can be an impetus toward justice.  In some cases, phone calls from the international community have resulted in better treatment for the prisoner(s), and even in the prisoner’s release.  When calling on behalf of imprisoned believer, Alimujiang Yimiti, his name is pronounced A-leem’jan Yi-mit’.

Alimujiang has been a committed Christian for 14 years.  Belief in Jesus has made great changes in Alimujiang’s life and has made him a good and loyal citizen who loves his country and his people. I am deeply concerned about Aliumjiang Yimiti’s welfare and why he has been detained for more than a year.
Alimujiang has repeatedly been denied visits with his wife and his attorney. He was seen on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 10 a.m. being handled roughly by police as they escorted him to Nongsanshi Hospital in Kashgar. He cried out to the onlookers in Chinese, “I’m sick. Tell my lawyer to come quickly to see me.” I ask that he immediately be permitted to see his attorney and his wife, and an explanation be given for the treatment he has received.
I am praying for the leaders of China and formally request that you release Alimujiang Yimiti immediately. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Write an encouraging letter to Alimujiang Yimiti.
When prisoners receive letters from around the world, it is a demonstration to the prison officials and the Chinese government that there are individuals who care about the prisoner. It is also a sign of love and encouragement to the prisoner that they are being supported in prayer and that others are standing with them. While the prisoner may not always receive the letter, the letter will be read by prison officials, and often results in better treatment for the prisoner(s).
