Dr. Bob Fu to Speak on Christian Persecution in China

(USA — March 13, 2025) Dr. Bob Fu, president of ChinaAid, has been invited as a keynote speaker at the Asia Freedom Institute’s live podcast on “Christianity and the Persecution of Christians in China.” The Institute is dedicated to promoting democracy and religious freedom in China and Tibet.

Escalating Persecution of Christians in China

The Asia Freedom Institute’s announcement states that the Chinese Communist Party has intensified its crackdown on religious freedom, making China one of the most dangerous places for Christians to practice their faith. Underground churches are raided, pastors are arrested, and scriptures are altered to align with party ideology. Beijing seeks to eradicate any belief system or institution that could challenge its absolute authority, and even state-sanctioned churches have not been spared.

The announcement openly criticizes the Chinese authorities for their systematic persecution and control of religion, which extends beyond Christians to include Tibetan Buddhists, Uyghur and Turkic Muslims, and other groups. Places of worship are under strict surveillance, missionary work is banned, and religious education for children — such as Sunday schools or religious summer camps — is prohibited.

The Chinese government has arrested underground Catholic bishops and priests. The announcement questions how China, under Xi Jinping’s leadership, has escalated its persecution of Christians and examines the current state of Christianity in China today.
