Sunday Service of Taiyuan Xuncheng Reformed Church was Disrupted; 11 Members Placed Under Administrative Detention

(Taiyuan — October 13, 2025) On the morning of October 12, 2025 (Sunday), local police raided the in-person worship service of Xuncheng Reformed Church in Taiyuan, and several church co-workers and members were taken away.

As of 4 p.m. on October 13, only Brother Liu Shuai has been released. Prior to this, the hotel owner who was detained alongside him was also released on the same day. The remaining 11 brothers and sisters have been placed under 15 days of administrative detention and are expected to be released on October 28.

According to church members waiting outside the public security bureau, families of those detained have not yet received formal detention notices.

The incident has heavily impacted the congregation. The church is calling on Christians everywhere to continue praying for the detained brothers and sisters; may God grant peace, steadfast faith, and protection of the detainees’ physical and spiritual well-being, especially for Sister Dong Wei, who is currently a nursing mother.
