(Tokyo, Japan – February 24, 2026) The second International Forum on “China’s Human Rights Abuses Unreported by the Media” (Japanese title: 第2回国際フォーラム「メディアが報じない中国人権弾圧」) was successfully held on February 23, 2026 (Monday, a Japanese national holiday) at the conference center in Hibiya Library and Museum in Tokyo. The forum was organized by the Happiness Realization Party (幸福実現党), with the aim of exposing issues such as the Chinese Communist Party’s religious persecution and human rights repression that receive little attention from mainstream media, and calling on the international community to strengthen cooperation among value-based alliances centered on “freedom, democracy, and faith.”

Dr. Bob Fu, founder of the China Aid Association, attended the forum as a special guest. He delivered a keynote address together with 里村英一 (Eiji Satomura, Chair of the Policy Research Council of the Happiness Realization Party) and participated in a panel discussion.

Dr. Bob Fu focused his remarks on the grave reality of religious persecution in China. He previously engaged in Christian evangelism within a Beijing house church and was detained for his preaching. After his release, he fled to the United States, where he founded ChinaAid and has since testified for many years before the U.S. Congress, the United Nations, and other bodies.

In October 2025, Chinese authorities launched a large-scale operation against the Beijing Zion Church, resulting in the detention of nearly 30 pastors and members. The incident affected multiple regions, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangxi, and Shenzhen, and was widely regarded as a signal of a new round of systematic religious repression.

In November 2025, Dr. Fu testified before the U.S. Congressional-Executive Commission on China regarding religious repression in China. The Tokyo forum continued this line of testimony, emphasizing the importance of religious freedom as a cornerstone of democracy.

In his speech, Chairperson Eiji Satomura pointed out that ongoing human rights violations in China are extremely serious, calling on Japan and the international community to confront these “unreported by the media” dark realities and to advance value-based alliances to counter authoritarian oppression.

Dr. Fu emphasized what he described as Xi Jinping’s wars against religious freedom in China – the war against the cross, against the bible, and against the people of faith. He highlighted emblematic cases such as Sister Wang Honglan (王洪兰), pastor John Cao (曹三强), pastor Wang Yi (王怡), and lawyer Gao Zhisheng (高智晟) to illustrate the human cost of these CCP’s religious policies. Dr. Fu concluded with a call to action, urging the international community to respond through intercessory prayer, sustained advocacy, and the writing of letters of encouragement and support to prisoners of conscience.

The forum included keynote presentations and panel discussions, as well as a question-and-answer session. Questions raised by participants reflected deep concern over human rights issues in China and the surrounding region.
