(Beijing) Police raided the Haidian branch of the Beijing Zion Church on September 22. Elder Cai Jing, Zhou Sirui, and Wu Qiong were administratively detained. Zhou Sirui’s boyfriend sent an intercession letter asking for others to pray for them.
Raid during Sunday gathering
The Beijing Zion Church Haidian Branch mainly spreads the gospel to college and university students. Local police and other departments suddenly entered one Sunday, interrupting the gathering. All attendees were required to register their identity information before being allowed to leave the venue.
Police finally took away Elder Cai Jing, lay pastor Zhou Sirui, and Wu Qiong who was in charge of the equipment. At around 11 PM that evening, Zhou Sirui’s boyfriend Sean received a phone call informing him that all three Christians had been administratively detained. His girlfriend Zhou Sirui would be detained for 15 days, and Elder Cai Jing and Wu Qiong would be detained for 14 days each.
July 7th raid
On July 7th this year, there was another raid during a Sunday gathering. More than 20 police and law enforcement officers stormed the venue, and all those present were questioned and registered.
Several Christians were taken to the Ganjiakou police station for questioning. In the afternoon, other members left one after another, except for the Christian missionary Zhou Sirui. She was administratively detained for 14 days by the Haidian Detention Center on charges of operating under the name of a revoked society.
Prayers for Zhou Sirui
In the prayer letter, Sean stated that this is the second time that lay pastor Zhou Sirui has been detained in two months. He asked God to give her special strength to face the life in the detention center, and also asked God to give faith to the three detained Christians so that they can stand strong in the detention center with God.
He cited 2 Timothy 1:8 to encourage everyone:
“Do not be ashamed of your testimony about our Lord, nor of me, a prisoner of the Lord; but share in my sufferings for the sake of the gospel, according to the power of God.”
