BEIJING — On October 11, 2010, Shouwang Church in Beijing issued a statement on events pertaining to Chinese house church Christians who have been invited to the Lausane Congress:

Chinese house church Christians who have been invited to the Lausanne Congress are under much pressure from authorities who are using different means in order to prevent them from attending the congress. However, it is our belief that God has His own plan and ideas for their participation in the Lausanne Congress that will promote the growth of Chinese churches. God will also cause churches in China to “arise and shine” and become “salt and light” to bless the Chinese society. Therefore, we the members of Shouwang Church:

Give thanks that 12 brothers and sisters of our church (eight formal representatives and four volunteers) were invited to attend the Lausanne Congress. We firmly support their participation in the congress and we implore God to grant them a safe and smooth trip to South Africa!

We pray that all the invitees representing China will be able to attend the Lausanne Congress with strong convictions, in public and in private. We also pray that the barriers restricting the spiritual pursuits of the church will be removed!

We pray sincerely for other Christians whose movement is restricted or who currently under detention because of the invitation they have received to attend the Lausanne Congress. One of these Christias is Brother Liu Jintao of Baotou, Inner Mongolia who was placed on a 15-day administration detention on October 9. We implore God to let them have not only freedom of the spirit but also freedom to travel, and let them testify of the Lord’s life and truth with God’s Spirit!  We also pray for the churches they belong to and their team of co-workers so that they are steadfast within the Lord!
Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. — Isaiah 60: 1-3
